Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, titration of drips, and work every other weekend including holidays.

Description: Unit has 28 private beds. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. Patient ratio is 1:4-5, with a maximum of 1:6 during MedSurg acuity. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. Charge nurse works during the day with no assignments, and the night charge nurse may have assignments. Nurse aides are available during the day and mid-shift; no aides available overnight. Must be able to titrate various drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin. Insulin is set-rate, and there are no sedation drips. Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow are used for respiratory support. A hospitalist is in-house 24/7, and an intensivist is available during the day and on-call after hours. There is no IV team; however, staff can consult with charge nurses for difficult IV placements. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Registered nurses have 12-hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Candidates may be required to float to the ICU as needed. Orientation for the position is standard, lasting two shifts with a preceptor. Common diagnoses include heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, and CVAs, as well as a mix of other conditions downgraded from critical care. The director is supportive and communicates clearly with staff regarding schedules. Block scheduling is allowed, and the environment is conducive for travelers. This role requires working every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday, and one winter holiday.
