Security Specialist

Job TitleResponsible for district key control, district security alarm system control, district lost & found control, service/delivery permit control, dispatching and support services to students, faculty, staff and general public. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.Essential FunctionsMonitor the security alarm system. Verify and enter employee identification card information and activate and deactivate personnel in the system access authorization roster. Maintain logs of malfunctions of system and activation/deactivation of Proximity cards. Issue building, office, cabinet, and desk keys to employees and maintain manual records on key series and issuance/return of keys district wide. Receive requests for lock changes, coordinate with District's Locksmith key orders, problems, and repairs of doors and locks. Set-up and maintain files and order supplies and equipment. Act as point of contact for lost and found items in the district and maintain records of inventory not claimed for donation or destruction. Provide clerical service for the department district wide. Prepare correspondence or memos, answer phone, and schedule appointments and meeting. Issue service and delivery permits to vendors, contractors, and college employees. Maintain records of permits. Provide informational and directional assistance to faculty, staff, students, visitors, vendors, and handicapped individuals as needed. Issue temporary parking passes to students, staff, visitors, faculty, and staff. Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor such as operating the district radio communication system, dispatch officers and security personnel to emergency and non-emergency situations requiring police assistance, monitor the building alarm security system district wide. Monitor and export footage from the video surveillance system for Valle Verde Campus, law enforcement agencies hiring new applicants, and check field information cards.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:1. Associate's Degree and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be qualified for the position at the time of application. 2. Experience with security alarm and video surveillance systems. 3. Experience providing effective customer service. 4. Effective telephone etiquette skills.5. Ability to manage and export surveillance footage.6. Proficient computer skills to include internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.Special Conditions:1.
