Position Summary Students who read have the power to succeed, and we’re on a mission to make sure every student is a strong reader! Join Reading Corps as a Reading Tutor and you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. We’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way! Every school day you’ll see pairs of students for 20 minutes of reading practice. When your time together is up, you’ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next pair for tutoring. You’ll repeat until all your students are served. With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you’ll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on! Have questions? Core Responsibilities Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software Commit to your own growth through coaching and training Share your experience with the community Essential Qualifications By the time you begin your service with Reading Corps, you should be: Dependable and have a history of good attendance Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online) Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States Able to successfully complete a background check Perks Package Schedule Positions run August 2026–June 2027. Full‑time roles are 35 hours per week (reduced during holidays or release days). Daytime hours correspond with school start and end times, Monday‑Friday, with time off on holidays and release days. Part‑time positions are also available at 25 or 15 hours per week. AmeriCorps positions include a total service‑hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site‑based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed. Pay & Benefits Full‑time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend every two weeks. Compensation: $17.50 per hour served and additional perks.
