About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of one year of CVICU experience in a Level I trauma setting is required. Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services while applying nursing techniques is necessary. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is important. Some computer skills are necessary. License: Current RN License issued by the appropriate state board. Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association. PALS certification from the American Heart Association is required. Certifications: Current RN License Basic Life Support certification PALS certification Must-Have: Minimum of one year of experience in CVICU in a Level I trauma setting. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
