IT Project Manager – Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

Location: New York or New Jersey Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Project Manager – HRIS to lead enterprise software implementation and technology transformation projects across the organization, with an initial focus on the implementation of a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP) . This role is ideal for a seasoned IT professional with a strong ability to manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, requirements gathering, vendor coordination, system implementation, data migration, testing, training, organizational change management, deployment, and post-implementation support.

As an IT Project Manager - HRIS , you will work closely with business stakeholders, Information Technology, vendors, consultants, and executive leadership to deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, data quality, user experience, and business performance. While the initial assignment will focus on the HRIS implementation, the IT Project Manager - HRIS may lead additional enterprise software implementations and business transformation projects as organizational priorities evolve.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service while fostering collaboration and growth within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle delivery of HRIS and enterprise software projects, from initiation through deployment and transition to operational support.
• Develop and manage project plans , schedules, budgets, risks, issues, decisions, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across HR, Payroll, Benefits, IT, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to ensure alignment and timely execution.
• Oversee HRIS implementation activities , including requirements, configuration reviews, integrations, data migration, testing, training, and go-live readiness.
• Manage vendor relationships , ensuring deliverables, milestones, contractual obligations, and issue resolution are handled effectively.
• Drive organizational readiness , including change management, communications, training, and adoption of new systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, Business, HR, Project Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of project management experience delivering enterprise software or business application implementations.
• Hands-on experience with full software implementation lifecycle: requirements, configuration, integration, data migration, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
• Proven ability to manage vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong project governance skills , including risk management, schedule management, and executive-level reporting.
• Excellent communication skills , including facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid methodologies.
• Experience implementing HRIS/HCM platforms (UKG, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, ADP Workforce Now, HiBob, etc.).
• Experience with ERP, financial systems, workflow automation, or other enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Experience in public sector, transportation, infrastructure, or regulated environments.
• Experience with organizational change management and user adoption strategies.

Note: The estimated starting salary for this position is $150,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
