BIT Engineer

Broadcast It Engineer (Open)

Nebraska Public Media is hiring a Broadcast IT Engineer through the State of Nebraska to support the systems that power our statewide radio and television networks. In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance broadcast and IT infrastructure to ensure reliable, high-quality content delivery across multiple platforms. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative, mission-driven environment serving communities across Nebraska.

Under limited supervision, performs work in one or more of the following IT areas: hardware and software support, network support, development efforts for multiple processing platform automated operations, special applications or projects, performs computer room design, application of network communications regulations and principles, the use of precision instruments and technical equipment, and the installation, diagnosis, repair, and calibration of communications equipment, systems administration, research, procurement, and/or training; performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Hiring Rate: $25.218/hr. Pay rate will be commensurate with education and experience, if approved.

Requirements/Qualifications include:

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in computer science and two years of related technical and business experience. Two years of related technical and business experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. OR Post high school coursework in computer science and three years of related technical and business experience. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:

Knowledge of: network planning, design, and evaluation; computer systems facilities support design and evaluation; memory structure; buffers and registers; networking; network application interfaces; specification development and writing; electronic communications networks; computer systems, telecommunications, and network theory; distance communication systems; operational needs regarding data communications, computer hardware and software; applications and user systems; operating systems and utilities; peripherals; testing equipment; hardware and software interfacing; user needs analysis; data storage and security; agency rules/regulations and policies/procedures; computer assembly. Theory and principles of communications and electronics; applicable standards and procedures regarding network/system installation and related documentation. Agency mission and programs, policies/procedures, rules/regulations; divisional policies/procedures; software, procedures and practices used to prepare the batch production schedule; predecessor/successor relationships; schedule maintenance and workload performance analysis processes; Job Control Language concepts and techniques; forms overlay development practices; printer capabilities and printer software, software used to move executable program modules from test to production; current change management software; current problem management software; system software tools used by CDP Operations; hardware configuration functions and capabilities; computer room design and space planning concepts; CDP Operations Standard Operating Procedures development processes; project management concepts and techniques; computer programming languages and development methodologies
