Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Medical/Surgical ICU setting provides direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, assisting with daily living activities and supporting the healthcare team. This role requires at least 2 years of recent acute care experience, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU environment. The CNA will also be expected to float within the facility as needed and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities:

Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
Perform clinical tasks such as vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, pulse oximetry, and blood sugar finger sticks.
Support nursing staff by preparing patients for diagnostic tests and assisting in emergency situations.
Maintain and clean medical equipment and patient care areas.
Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (Cerner).
Float to other units within the facility as required to meet patient care needs.
Answer unit phones and coordinate equipment and supply needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical settings.
Ability to work within scope and float as mandated by facility.
Must live within 75 miles of the facility.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience in ICU or critical care environments.
Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting system.
Prior experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting.

Special Considerations:

Mandatory float facility: all staff required to float to meet unit needs.
No call requirements.
RTO (Return to Office) policy: maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or adjacent days.
Scrub color is unrestricted.

Scheduling:

Five 8-hour shifts per week, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Work every other weekend (2 weekends per month).
Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
