The lead culinary assistant is responsible for dining room meal service to residents.

This nutrition services schedule includes:

• 80 hours every two weeks; full time
• Day/evening
• Full benefits

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident's specific dietary needs
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Helps lead shift huddles for each meal.
  • Outlines and delegates daily cleaning and production tasks for the culinary assistants as needed.
  • Creates dining room cleaning schedules and procedures and ensures their completion.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
• Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates tenant/resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to culinary director as appropriate.
• Provides support and direction to culinary assistants:
  • Oversees proper procedures for dining room set-up for daily meals and special events.
  • Checks the daily task sheets for completion. Refers any incomplete tasks to the chef/culinary director.
  • Schedules culinary assistants.
  • Identify culinary assistant performance issues and communicates them to culinary director.
  • Trains new staff on proper procedures.
  • Assists in completing the onboarding and orientation checklists for newly hired culinary assistants.
  • Listens to complaints and respond appropriately. Refers issues to culinary director and executive director as appropriate.

Required qualifications

• Less than 1 year

Preferred qualifications

• High school or GED
• 1 year
