Pharmacist - Oceanside, California

A pharmacy is seeking a qualified Pharmacist for a short 4-week contract opportunity in Oceanside, CA. This role requires a licensed pharmacist to work the 2nd shift, from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, including rotating weekends. This position offers a chance to contribute to patient care while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic pharmacy setting.


Key Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.
• Ensure medication supply complies with legal standards.
• Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient.
• Maintain confidential patient records with precision and integrity.
• Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer related questions.
• Provide consultations on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, and drug interactions.
• Offer additional patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on using medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following proper protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
• Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• CA Pharmacist license must be in-hand prior to starting.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred but retail pharmacists will be considered and trained.
• Ability to work independently and manage pharmacy operations confidently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
