PRODUCTION PLANNER
TALLASSEE, AL

Responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of production working closely with the engineering, purchasing and logistics teams to ensure production efficiency is maximized whilst adhering to the customer requirements in terms of availability and quality, always meeting customer expectations.

Key Tasks:

• Liaise with Manufacturing Manager and the Site Lead to align capacity and workload by work center.
• Align demand nesting with engineers and build into production plan.
• Generate, maintain and review production schedules ensuring sufficient materials and capacity are available for both short and long-term orders with copies issued to relevant departments.
• Produce a detailed production plan covering structural and process kits, taking account of process flows, capacity, and work centers, including cutting machines, collation and kitting.
• Manage customer demand, review fluctuations in demand and assess their impact on materials, capacity, and the production plan.
• Manage and maintain the customer order book, ensuring delivery commitments are achieved and on-time delivery (OTD) performance is maintained.
• Manage customer site correspondence relating to demand, production plans, order status, and delivery performance. Providing regular cadence to the customers in a data driven and aligned manner.
• Release manufacturing orders (MOs) in paper or digital form in line with the approved production plan.
• Monitor and manage material shelf life to minimize expiry risk, waste and disruption to production.  Raising and risks in a timely manner.
• Plan and produce production and material shortage reports.
• Work with procurement to ensure materials procured and purchased, always ensuring material levels are maintained to achieve production plan.
• Support procurement activities, including supplier liaison, purchase-order follow-up, expediting materials and resolving supply issues to protect the production plan.
• In conjunction with the commercial team ensure orders are raised correctly to generate the correct requirements from the MRP/ERP system.
• Track work in progress and finished goods stock levels.
• Ensure all relevant parties are fully updated of production status and that work planning is fully integrated and communicated.
• Align with the wider company Supply Chain team to standardize and improve planning processes across all sites.
• Support the Site Lead and Planning and Supply Chain Manager with weekly customer updates, tracking performance against budget and highlighting potential upsides, downsides, risks and recovery actions.
• Inform the Site Leader of any shortages in capacity and work in order to format an action plan.
• Produce KPI reports and other metrics based on delivery of planning performance.
• Set and continually monitor KPIs and targets to ensure the planning performance delivery is achieved.
• Obtain and analyze manufacturing data and lessons learned to improve the accuracy and reliability of the planning process.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes, strengthen planning controls and increase operational efficiency.
• Work with a continuous improvement ethic, looking to minimize waste and increase efficiency wherever possible.
