Assistant Physical Therapist

Position PRN Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – The Villages, Florida Company Better @ Home, part of LHC Group and the Optum family. Overview As a Physical Therapist Assistant you will perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education aimed at improving/enhancing the patient's well‑being while following the established plan of care. Primary Responsibilities Follow all state specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care and the treatment plan set by the supervising PT; perform only procedures that you are qualified and trained to perform, and make recommendations for changes to the supervising PT. Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re‑education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training. Observe, record, and report patient response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician; coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate. Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in therapy areas within your scope as a physical therapy assistant. Required Qualifications Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice. Current CPR certification. Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation. Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client. Availability to work a weekend rotation. Preferred Qualifications Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay ranges from $23.41 to $41.83 per hour based on full‑time employment. Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
