DMV Specialist/Title Clerk

Job Title: DMV Specialist Department: Administration Supervisor: Controller Summary Description This position is responsible for proper titling of new, used, and wholesale units for the dealership. Knowledge of DMV laws along with providing a full range of administrative support is required. Daily work performed under the supervision of the Controller and requires a high degree of accuracy and time management. Duties & Responsibilities Ensures retail transactions are processed in a timely manner. Prepares purchase and trade-in documentation. Contacts backs to obtain lien releases. Prepares tax and title documents. Prepares necessary paperwork for submission to the tag agency. Ensures the dealer’s tag and title work meets state requirements. Prepare and submit all legal transfer documents to the state department of motor vehicles. Answer all customer inquiries in a professional manner. Maintains a high level of confidentiality. Negotiate through complex issues using available resources in the DMV and Dealer Finance Department to achieve a positive customer experience. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Qualifications & Job Requirements Customer service background with phone and computer experience. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. Strong work ethic and willing to give 110% to get the job done correctly. Professional demeanor. High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of DMV experience required. Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, along with general email/internet. Experience using various Google Drive applications to include but not limited to Google Sheets and Google Docs a plus. Certified or certifiable with CA DMV live scan (if applicable). Must be able to multitask and input data with accuracy and efficiency in a high paced environment. Physical Demands Frequently works on a computer in a typical office environment. Working Conditions The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department. Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles. In addition to the outlined essential job functions, the employee is required to complete all additional tasks assigned by his/her supervisor, as the supervisor sees fit for the position.
