Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Chemical Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer Chemical supports and improves chemical manufacturing processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. This on-site role provides technical expertise for operations involving chemical processing, filtration, separation, purification, water treatment, and related production technologies. The engineer collaborates closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to optimize processes, reduce waste, improve yields, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for daily manufacturing operations and chemical production processes to ensure stable, efficient, and safe performance.
• Develop, refine, and optimize manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and process control strategies for chemical processing, filtration, separation, purification, and water treatment systems.
• Analyze process performance data and partner with Quality and EHS teams to ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support troubleshooting of chemical systems, filtration equipment, wastewater treatment processes, and related manufacturing operations, resolving equipment and process issues in a timely manner.
• Lead root cause investigations for process deviations, nonconformances, and equipment failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
• Design and execute process validation and qualification activities to confirm process capability and robustness for new or modified manufacturing processes.
• Plan and implement continuous improvement projects that utilize Lean Manufacturing and DBS tools to eliminate waste, improve yields, and enhance overall operational performance.
• Prepare clear and accurate technical reports, process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to support consistent, compliant manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and R&D to align process improvements with business objectives and customer requirements.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of process control systems and documentation to support reliable, repeatable chemical manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

• 25+ years of experience in process engineering or chemical processing within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of process optimization techniques, including statistical analysis and root cause problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and using manufacturing documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process control documentation.
• Familiarity with process control systems used in chemical manufacturing and related production technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret process data and drive data-based decisions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, documentation, and communication.
• Ability to apply continuous improvement principles to manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with industrial wastewater treatment systems, including operation, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Background in acid recovery systems or environmental remediation processes in an industrial setting.
• Ability to identify and drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies and waste reduction initiatives.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques for monitoring and improving process stability and capability.
• Experience performing Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to proactively identify and mitigate process risks.
• Hands-on exposure to Lean manufacturing techniques and tools for continuous improvement.
• Understanding of environmental permitting requirements and wastewater discharge compliance in a manufacturing context.
• Familiarity with chemical process safety management principles and practices.

Work Environment

This position is based fully on site at a manufacturing facility in Deland, FL and is part of the Engineering team. The role involves frequent interaction with chemical processing equipment, filtration systems, separation and purification technologies, and water and wastewater treatment operations. Work is performed in a production environment where safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to standard operating procedures are critical. The engineer collaborates closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and R&D teams and uses Microsoft Office and process control systems to analyze data, document processes, and communicate improvements. The work environment emphasizes continuous improvement, structured problem solving, and cross-functional teamwork.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DeLand, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
