This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting under U.S. GAAP, while supporting the month-end close process, external audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.This role could be a strong fit if you’re currently working in audit and looking to move closer to the business, or if you already have industry experience and are looking for a role with more ownership, complexity and impact.Work Location and Schedule The Senior Accountant is a full-time role based at our Sugar Land, TX office. Minimum 3 days per week, with up to 2 days of work-from-home. What You'll DoThe Senior Accountant duties include the following:Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting:Prepare and assist with the timely filing of financial statements and reporting packagesPartner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Operations Accounting to gather reporting input and resolve discrepanciesHelp maintain reporting calendars, PBC trackers, status updates, and documentation standards for quarterly close and reporting cyclesMaintain organized support files and help build repeatable templates for recurring reporting deliverablesIdentify opportunities to simplify, automate, or standardize recurring reporting workstreamsResearch and analyze complex accounting issues and new accounting pronouncementsAssist with implementation of new accounting standards and disclosure requirementsCorporate Accounting & Financial Close:Prepare, record, analyze and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policiesManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process to support the preparation of monthly management reports and the Company’s required financial statements and reporting packagesPrepare and/or review monthly reconciliations of general ledger accountsAudit Readiness & Special Projects:Support external auditor requests, review comments, and follow-up questions through timely and complete responsesParticipate in system implementations, reporting enhancements, and finance transformation initiativesSupport M&A activities, due diligence efforts, and integration projects as neededReasonable Accommodations Statement To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. What You'll BringExperience2+ years of Big Four public accounting experience, or 4+ years of combined public accounting or financial reporting experienceStrong understanding of US GAAP, financial statements, reconciliations, and audit support standardsAdvanced Excel skills and ability to work accurately with large, multi-tab workbooks and reporting schedulesStrong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage deadlines in a close/reporting calendarClear written communication and ability to document work so reviewers can follow the logic and source dataHigh ownership mindset and willingness to learn complex reporting areasNice to HaveExperience with SAP, FloQast, ERP reporting tools, or financial statement reporting softwareExperience in public utility, infrastructure, or multi-entity environmentEducation, Licenses and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance or AccountingCPA, or actively pursuing CPA certification with multiple exam sections successfully completedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong experience in financial accounting under U.S. GAAP, ideally gained across audit, industry, or a combination of bothExperience with month-end close, reconciliations, journals and financial reportingA strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply judgement in practical situationsA process improvement mindset, with examples of improving ways of working rather than simply maintaining themStrong attention to detail, combined with the ability to see the bigger pictureClear communication skills and the ability to work well with both finance and non-finance colleaguesA proactive, structured and solutions-oriented way of workingInterest in automation, systems, AI and the future of accounting/financeWork EnvironmentThis role is primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting and computer work.Regular collaboration is required both in person and virtually with internal and external stakeholders.Occasional travel may be required.
