Description:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist utilizes imaging, computer, and other equipment as appropriate to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Applies professional knowledge to prepare patients for procedures.
Educates patients and addresses their questions or concerns.
Ensures an age-appropriate approach to communication and safety needs.
Demonstrates an understanding of patient positioning and imaging techniques.
Practices radiation safety and infection control.
Oversees and trains students providing patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
Verifies the ordered exam's appropriateness utilizing assessment data.
Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
Positions the patient and equipment for optimal imaging.
Utilizes imaging and computer equipment to retain diagnostic images.
Works with physicians to evaluate images and determine if additional images are needed.
Applies radiation safety techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
Ensures an age-appropriate approach to communication and patient education.
