Young World Physical Education
The classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive and engaging classroom environment where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. They plan and deliver lessons in subjects such as math, reading, writing, science, and social studies, tailoring instruction to meet the needs of individual students. The teacher monitors student progress through assessments, provides feedback, and works closely with parents to ensure students’ success. Additionally, they promote positive behavior, encourage teamwork, and foster a love for learning. Teachers also manage classroom activities, set routines, and ensure the safety and well-being of all students. The instructor must be committed to servant leadership, collaborative decision‑making, open communication, transparency, privacy respect, and equity advocacy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance and support implementation of the school district’s student achievement goals. Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position. Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction. Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students. Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning. Demonstrates competence in classroom management. Engages in professional growth. Fulfills professional responsibilities established by the school district.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning by developing schemes of work and tests in accordance with established procedures. Ensure the classroom is prepared for activities. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment using relevant technology and a variety of resources to support differentiation. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures; discipline shall be maintained in accordance with district rules and disciplinary systems. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Observe and evaluate student performance and development, assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments. Provide appropriate feedback. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development, updating all necessary records as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails. Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings and appropriate professional activities, extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications include a valid Iowa teaching certificate, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education or an acceptable content area. The employee is expected to demonstrate continued professional growth specific to the program(s).SKILLS
Communication Skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Ability to communicate with individuals and groups at all levels, deliver presentations, and produce written reports and documents. Effective listening skills are required. Analytical & Reasoning Skills – Solid background in instruction, assessment, and curriculum; ability to interpret complex data; apply instructional strategies and link assessment data analysis to school improvement, curriculum, and professional development. Technology Skills – Competence in research and information gathering through technology and the ability to present and communicate through technology.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires physical demands that include constant standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting under 70 pounds, and carrying items at least 35 feet. Frequent climbing of stairs and manual dexterity tasks will be required. Occasional sitting and vehicle driving may occur.
