Job Title: Yard Jockey
Job Description

The Yard Jockey is responsible for the operation of yard tractors and Class A vehicles to efficiently move trailers within the facility yard, ensuring timely positioning at dock doors for loading and unloading. This role involves close coordination with Shipping, Receiving, and Production teams to align trailer availability with production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard tractors and Class A vehicles to maneuver trailers within the facility yard.
• Coordinate with Shipping, Receiving, and Production teams to ensure timely trailer availability.
• Conduct trailer spotting, docking, and repositioning to support inbound and outbound logistics.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues promptly.
• Verify trailer conditions to meet food safety standards prior to loading.
• Ensure trailers are secured using wheel chocks, trailer stands, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Maintain accurate yard logs, trailer inventories, and movement records.
• Adhere to company safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA guidelines, and DOT regulations.
• Keep the yard organized and audit-ready, ensuring clear traffic lanes and proper trailer placement.
• Support internal audits and inspections related to safety and food safety compliance.
• Assist with additional warehouse or sanitation-related tasks as needed.

• Valid Class CDL A Driver’s License.
• Clean driving record meeting company insurance standards.
• Experience as a yard jockey, shunter, or similar role in manufacturing or food production environment.
• Familiarity with GMPs and food safety standards.
• Ability to operate yard trucks and maneuver trailers safely in tight spaces.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly concerning safety and product integrity.

• Previous experience in manufacturing or food production environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of GMPs and food safety standards is a strong advantage.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $56160.00/yr.
