The Compliance Specialist is responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and administering compliance activities related to Small Business Administration (SBA) regulations and small business program requirements across the organization. This role serves as a subject matter resource on SBA compliance, evaluates regulatory obligations, monitors compliance risks, and develops recommendations to support adherence with federal requirements. The position utilizes independent judgment to assess compliance matters, interpret regulatory guidance, analyze reporting data, and collaborate with business units to ensure consistent application of SBA regulations and corporate policies. Work Location In-office at 3000 C Street; Anchorage, AK Responsibilities Administer and evaluate SBA compliance programs, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, reporting requirements, and corporate policies. Analyze and interpret SBA regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to determine organizational compliance obligations. Lead preparation, review, and submission of SBA-related reports, applications, and regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Conduct compliance assessments and reviews to identify potential risks, gaps, or areas requiring corrective action. Monitor changes in SBA regulations and federal compliance requirements and recommend updates to policies, procedures, and business practices. Develop, implement, and maintain methodologies for monitoring processes to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness. Analyze compliance data, metrics, and trends and prepare reports, dashboards, and recommendations for management review and decision-making. Provide guidance and consultation to business units and corporate departments regarding SBA requirements, eligibility considerations, and compliance obligations. Maintain organizational registrations and certifications, including SAM.gov and other regulatory systems, ensuring ongoing compliance and data integrity. Support internal and external audits, reviews, and examinations by providing documentation and analysis. Serve as a point of contact with SBA representatives and regulatory stakeholders regarding compliance-related matters. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve compliance issues. Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and reporting accuracy. Maintain documentation supporting SBA compliance activities and organizational certifications. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Contract Management, Public Administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible experience in SBA compliance, government contracting, contracts administration, regulatory compliance, accounting, or a related discipline. Experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements, policies, and compliance standards. Successfully pass background and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications: Experience serving as a liaison with contracting officers, auditors, or regulatory agencies. Experience supporting program examinations, audits, or compliance investigations. Experience working within a multi-entity or large government contracting organization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of SBA regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, FAR, DFAR, and applicable federal compliance requirements. Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply complex regulatory guidance to business operations. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify compliance risks and develop practical recommendations. Ability to independently evaluate information, exercise sound judgment, and make recommendations consistent with regulatory and organizational requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical compliance requirements to non-technical audiences. Ability to prepare reports, analyses, findings, and recommendations for leadership review. Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines. Ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments and influence compliance outcomes.
