CNC Operator - 1st ShiftThe CNC Operator sets up and operates CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components, ensuring machines run efficiently and parts meet quality specifications. This role involves performing frequent setups, interpreting blueprints and work instructions, and using precision measuring instruments to verify part accuracy while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including Kitamura and Fuji machines, to produce precision components.Perform machine setups ranging from 1–2 per day to 1 per week, depending on part requirements and production needs.Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and proper sequence of operations.Install, adjust, and secure tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices to ensure accurate and stable machining.Perform tool offsets and machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.Conduct first-piece inspections to verify that initial parts meet specifications before running full production.Monitor machine operation throughout the shift to ensure consistent performance and product quality.Troubleshoot machining issues such as dimensional deviations, surface finish problems, or tool wear, and make appropriate adjustments.Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators, to inspect and verify part dimensions.Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.Support overtime and additional production needs by working extra hours as required to meet customer and production demands.Essential Skills6 months to 1 year of CNC setup experience in a production or machining environment.Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, including familiarity with Kitamura and Fuji machines or similar equipment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions accurately.Proficiency installing and adjusting tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices for various parts and setups.Skill in performing tool offsets and machine adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.Experience performing first-piece inspections to validate setup and machining accuracy.Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machining issues quickly.Ability to work 1st shift hours and support mandatory overtime as needed.Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with multiple daily setups and changing part runs.Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.Willingness to work additional hours before or after scheduled shifts when required.Openness to working partial shifts on weekends when additional production support is needed.Strong communication skills to coordinate schedules and workload, especially when leveraging flexible work arrangements.Ability to maintain productivity and quality standards while adapting to new machinery and equipment.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance, along with a 401(k) plan that includes a competitive company match up to 4%. Standard 1st shift hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and 2nd shift runs from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a shift premium available for 2nd shift work. Mandatory overtime is currently in place, typically requiring 1–2 additional hours before or after the scheduled shift, and employees may choose to work additional hours on Saturdays and Sundays, often as half-day shifts depending on production demands. The facility uses CNC mills and lathes, including Kitamura and Fuji machines, along with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators. The environment is production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and efficient machine operation, and appropriate industrial work attire is expected to support safety and comfort in a shop setting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Deerfield, WI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $56160.00/yr.
