Position Summary

The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment while helping keep the kitchen and dish area clean, safe, and organized.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, plates, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate the commercial dishwasher safely and properly.
• Sort and return clean items to their designated storage areas.
• Keep a steady supply of clean dishes and utensils available during service.
• Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area throughout the shift.
• Remove food and debris from dishes before washing.
• Follow proper washing, rinsing, and sanitizing procedures.
• Empty trash and replace trash liners as needed.
• Break down and dispose of cardboard and other waste properly.
• Sweep and mop kitchen and dish-area floors as assigned.
• Clean floor mats, drains, sinks, walls, and other assigned kitchen areas.
• Immediately clean spills or wet floors to prevent accidents.
• Assist with basic kitchen cleaning and closing duties.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, or putting away supplies when requested.
• Handle dishes and equipment carefully to minimize breakage and damage.
• Properly use cleaning chemicals according to safety instructions.
• Report broken equipment, leaks, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and restaurant policies.
• Complete assigned opening, side-work, and closing duties.
• Perform other reasonable kitchen duties assigned by the Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Shift Manager.

Requirements

• Dependable and punctual.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift and carry typical restaurant supplies, dishes, and equipment.
• Comfortable working around water, heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
• Previous restaurant experience preferred but not required.

Performance Expectations

The Dishwasher is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, organization, speed, safety, and teamwork while ensuring the restaurant has clean dishes and equipment available throughout service.
