The Nutrition Educator is responsible for implementing nutrition education curricula for diverse audiences in accordance with applicable USDA and SNAP-Ed program guidelines. This position plans, schedules, and conducts nutrition education classes and corresponding cooking demonstrations at community sites throughout the Food Bank's service area. The Nutrition Educator works collaboratively with nutritionists, dietitians, volunteers, interns, community partners, and Food Bank staff to promote healthy eating habits, physical activity, and improved nutrition. This position also establishes and maintains positive relationships with community organizations and partner agencies to support program objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the Coastal Bend Food Bank Employee Handbook.
• Implements nutrition education programs designed to help SNAP participants and eligible individuals make informed food choices and adopt healthy, active lifestyles in accordance with applicable SNAP-Ed program guidance.
• Delivers USDA-approved nutrition education curricula and plans lessons that incorporate basic nutrition concepts and meet applicable program requirements.
• Schedules and conducts nutrition education classes and cooking demonstrations at community sites throughout the Food Bank's service area.
• Conducts multi-week nutrition education series, typically ranging from two to six weeks, as required by program needs.
• Collaborates with Feeding the Children and Families of the Coastal Bend (FBCC) partner agencies and other community organizations to support nutrition education initiatives.
• Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with existing and prospective community sites and partner organizations.
• Provides community sites with the educational materials, resources, and information necessary to host nutrition education classes.
• Ensures program procedures are followed and class participants meet established eligibility requirements and program criteria.
• Maintains accurate records of class attendance, participant engagement, required eligibility documentation, and other program data.
• Participates in community outreach activities, including health fairs, community education conferences, public speaking engagements, television presentations, and other promotional events as needed.
• Works collaboratively with other Food Bank departments and contributes to organizational activities and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or certification in the following or related field:  Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Personal Training, Culinary, or Agriculture.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present nutrition information clearly and effectively to individuals and groups with diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners and participants.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Ability to travel to community sites throughout the Food Bank's service area.
• Ability to conduct cooking demonstrations and facilitate interactive educational activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in office, classroom, community, and food demonstration settings.
• Requires travel to designated community sites and participation in outreach events.
• May require standing for extended periods, preparing food for demonstrations, and lifting or carrying educational materials and supplies.
