Lead Mortgage Guide

GetWyz Mortgage is an independent mortgage broker and a subsidiary of GetWyz, the Homeownership planning platform founded by Bob Curtis, who built MoneyGuide, financial planning software used by more than 100,000 financial advisors across the U.S. As a broker, we compare our lender network to match each buyer with the loan that best fits their financial situation.

This is not a typical loan officer role, and it is not quite a financial advisor role either. It is a consultative, coaching role that happens to include originating the loan.

We do not have salespeople here. We have Mortgage Guides. We run a combination of loan types, payments, rates, points, and down payment amounts, optimize them against what matters most to the buyer, and put real options in front of them. A Guide explains how each one impacts their financial situation, then allows the buyer to decide which loan fits best. It is the buyer’s decision, not ours.

What is different here:

Most loan officers spend the week chasing leads, guessing whether someone can qualify, and explaining how a mortgage works from scratch. Then they estimate the structure, points, or no points, how much down, and hope they landed somewhere good. That is not this job.

• Buyers come to you. No prospecting, no cold calls, no bought leads, no personal book of business to build.
• They arrive educated. Most have built a Homeownership Plan in the GetWyz app and already know their numbers. Some are ready to buy right now. Either way, you are not starting at square one on how a mortgage works.
• You know where they stand before the first call. Every buyer runs through WyzCalc, the homebuying methodology GetWyz is built on, so you have a real read on viability going in. You still verify everything without wasting weeks on files that are never going to close.
• The structure is modeled, not guessed. We run the combinations and bring back real options. Your job is to explain what each one means for that buyer, help them decide which fits, and help them obtain the financing through one of our lenders. Something most loan officers have never experienced.

This role will not feel like any origination job you have done. Buyers set the pace. Some want to talk every week. Some want to check in twice and handle the rest by email. Either is fine. What does not change is that they hear from us before they have to ask every step of the way to closing.

Where we are right now:

We are in transition. The GetWyz platform is young, so not every buyer arrives with a Homeownership Plan built. Some come to us ready to buy now or already own a home, the same way they’d come to any broker, and those files still need to get done well. You will originate both. What does not change is that you are not the one generating the lead.

Why this role:

This is the founding hire for GetWyz Mortgage’s Mortgage Guide team. The Lead Guide defines what great looks like here, builds the team underneath them, shapes the buyer’s experience from day one, and sets the standard for how a Guide treats a buyer and how GetWyz Mortgage originates loans.

Where this is going:

GetWyz Mortgage is early. Today that means a small team in Midlothian and a lender network we are actively growing. Over the next few years, it means more states, more lenders, and a mortgage operation built around the buyer instead of the transaction. None of that is fully decided yet, which is the point. The person in this seat is not inheriting a playbook. They are writing the one everyone after them will follow, without having the stress of prospecting or hunting down leads.

What a day looks like:

• Work directly with homebuyers, whether they arrive with a plan already built or come to us ready to buy, refinance, or take advantage of home equity by picking up where their own preparation left off.
• Lay out the options clearly, explain the tradeoffs in real dollars, and let the buyer make the call.
• Help each person understand a realistic, personalized path into the home, grounded in their actual financial picture rather than a generic pre-approval number.
• Originate loans end to end: communicate with buyers and lenders, collect and verify documentation, evaluate creditworthiness, run and interpret AUS.
• Keep buyers informed before they have to ask, at whatever level of contact they want.
• In the first 90 days, learn our lenders, products, and technology stack, and start identifying process gaps to fix.
• Work with leadership to design and build the Mortgage Guide team, define roles, determine location and hours, and partner with HR and recruiting.
• After 90 days, expand the licensure footprint into new states, evaluate new lenders, add loan products, hire and mentor future Guides and Coordinators, and oversee the team you help build.

We are looking for:

• Actively licensed MLO, NMLS in good standing, ready to originate immediately. Not pursuing licensure.
• 5+ years of origination experience, majority purchase transactions, with real FHA and VA depth. Three years minimum considered if offset by experience leading licensed producers.
• Genuinely tech comfortable. Able to work fluidly with app-first intake and buyer data, not just tolerate new software.
• A consultative style. Someone who would rather help a buyer wait 8 months and be ready than push a loan that is not right.
• Someone who is comfortable laying out the options and then letting the buyer decide.
• Real interest in building and leading a team. This starts as an individual contributor role and grows into leadership as the team is built.
• Based in the Midlothian, VA area. You will start full-time in the office. Once you are up to speed in the role, the schedule shifts to hybrid, in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $140,000 annually. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. In exceptional cases, compensation may exceed the stated range. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in our annual incentive bonus program.
