JOB SUMMARY
The Inventory Lead is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting the movement of materials and finished goods throughout the furniture manufacturing process. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, Shipping, and Customer Service to ensure inventory is properly received, transferred, allocated, adjusted, and recorded.
The Inventory Lead is responsible for identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies, performing cycle counts and audits, maintaining accurate ERP transactions, and supporting daily operational needs. This position also serves as a resource for inventory-related system issues and assists with identifying and correcting issues that may impact inventory accuracy or production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts as assigned.
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts and inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine the root cause of inventory variances.
- Assist with identifying and correcting failed system scans resulting from inventory discrepancies, incorrect item or location information, missing inventory, or other inventory-related system issues.
- Process approved inventory adjustments, transfers, and other inventory transactions within the ERP system.
- Monitor inventory movements between manufacturing, warehouse, outlet, and distribution locations.
- Verify that physical inventory movements are accurately reflected in the ERP system.
- Identify materials that are missing, incorrectly reserved, damaged, or otherwise unavailable for production.
- Assist Production with resolving inventory-related issues that could impact or delay manufacturing.
- Coordinate with Quality regarding damaged, defective, or non-conforming inventory and ensure appropriate inventory adjustments are completed.
- Maintain accurate inventory of furniture components, including frames, feet, hardware, cushions, casegoods components, packaging materials, and other production supplies.
- Assist with inventory requirements related to outlet orders, transfers, replacements, and special projects.
- Run, review, and distribute inventory reports as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to cycle counts, audits, inventory adjustments, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Identify recurring inventory errors and recommend process or procedural improvements.
- Train and assist warehouse and inventory employees with proper scanning, inventory movement, and transaction procedures.
- Ensure inventory-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed and assist with updating procedures when processes change.
- Escalate significant inventory discrepancies, recurring issues, or potential financial impacts to management.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory issues and improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Previous experience performing inventory audits, cycle counts, and providing inventory data and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across various levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills.
- Ability to work with large amounts of inventory data and identify patterns and root causes of discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Background or experience in Accounting or Supply Chain Management strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or a similar ERP system preferred.
This role is located onsite at our facilities in North Carolina (Taylorsville/Statesville)
$20 - $33 per hour
