Field Service Technician 2

IT Support Technician will be responsible for direct end‑user technical support for the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) contract by providing comprehensive IT support for end users at customer sites throughout Virginia and the surrounding areas. They will install, maintain, and repair products such as equipment, integrated systems, and software at the client and/or field locations. They will instruct customers in equipment operation, provide technical assistance, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment for malfunctions to eliminate problems in the minimum time.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Provide technical / IT support for Commonwealth of Virginia Perform routine maintenance on customer’s assets Provide comprehensive and timely resolution of all IT issues Responsible for system updates, ticketing and asset management Perform break/fix software & hardware support (including OEM‑certified warranty repair) Execute asset disposal activities Train on new products and services Support end users who remotely access services (including shipping replacement devices, leveraging third‑party hardware repair or other forms of onsite support) Resolve issues involving business applications on and off premise (e.g., cloud) Provide support remotely via remote administration tools as well as onsite / desk side Image Commonwealth devices May collaborate with vendors to provide technical insight Provide support for Windows 10/11 & MAC operating systems, software/application support, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, system restorations, etc. Provide after‑hours and weekend support as needed

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

High School diploma plus advanced training and 2+ years of experience. Experience with troubleshooting hardware (laptops/desktops) Requires frequent travel with reliable transportation Must possess a valid Driver’s License Must be able to lift a maximum of 30 pounds Must have manual dexterity Ability to read asset tags Ability to pass a VITA background check Ability to pass Department of Corrections clearance Ability to pass Virginia State Police clearance

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel between multiple customer sites in the Richmond / Tri‑cities area. Approximate travel is 50%.
