Engineering ManagerLynchburg, Virginia Salary: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 + STI [10%] + LTI [Stock] RELO PackageThe Engineering Manager works closely with the Director of Engineering to define and implement departmental strategies in support of the goals and objectives of the organization. The primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager is to direct engineering resources and coordinate their activities to achieve maximum efficiency and produce cost-effective, high quality products. The Engineering Manager serves as the Chief Engineer, while leading and managing the day-to-day engineering operations related to on-time processing of the Engineered-to-Order (ETO) sales orders, product maintenance & enhancement, application of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and the achievement of assigned WI's.Management and Supervisory Responsibilities:Maintain a positive and effective leadership role amongst subordinates through effective communication, one-on-one meetings, defined roles & responsibilities, clear expectations, regular guidance and feedback, and established priorities.Aspire to the Leadership principles.Exemplify and assimilate the Engineering Standards Of Excellence.Provide input to strategic initiatives.Execute strategic Objectives.Collaborate with direct reports to build trust, respect, and a high-performing team.Ensure departmental ability to deliver a high-quality, well-communicated work product.Implement continuous process improvements to ensure quality, efficiency and effectiveness.Mentor staff in matters related to people, products (maintenance & design), and processes.Ensure departmental adherence to ISO 9001:2008 and Nuclear Quality programs.Foster and maintain positive working relationships with all internal & external customers.Consult with the Director of Engineering in all policy or procedural changes, as well as critical customer-care decisions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage departmental workflow to achieve on-time delivery and KPI targets.Maintain up-to-date project and sales order tracking systems.Maintain overall responsibility for existing product maintenance, enhancement and testing in response to the demands of the market as identified by Sales.Disposition RMA's in a timely and effective manner.Ensure practices meet both technical and customers' standards to ensure consistency and best-practice approach.Coordinate resources to provide timely support to QA and the Shop Floor on demand.Develop and implement a BOM strategy for all products in support of strategic objectives.Manage welding/brazing activities including procedures, approvals and certifications.Review and Approve (sign-off) engineering documents.Manage approval and maintenance of all third-party listings (i.e. AHRI, etc.)Seek out new technology and opportunities for continuing education.Continually seek out opportunities for process improvement.Education/Experience:A minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.A minimum of (10) years manufacturing experience involving design and development of heat exchangers and/or related HVAC systems and components preferred.Three (3) years managerial experience.Registration as a Virginia PE is desirable.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Expert knowledge in the interpretation and application of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Sections III, Classes 1, 2, and 3 and Section VIII as related to custom product design.Proficiency in the design of mechanical components and equipment assemblies.Strong knowledge in Strength of Materials.Experience in the use of MRP systems. Preference for Made2Manage.General SolidWorks and EPDM knowledge.Able to interact cooperatively and professionally at all levels of the organization.Proficiency in the use of computers for general business logistics.Strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.Fluent at reading, speaking, and writing English, including technical vocabulary.
