Serpentix Conveyor, LLC is an engineering and manufacturing firm in Westminster, Colorado is seeking a full-time applicant for an Automation / Controls / Electrical Engineer position. This job would require candidates to fulfill responsibilities at our facility (70-80%), and field travel (20-30%); there are no remote / telecommuting position(s) available due to required company collaboration, and peer-to-peer project discussions and deliverable requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineers, project managers, and sales to deliver integrated systems that meet scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

· Review and interpret project bid documents, including specifications and drawings created by consulting engineers, and ensure compliance is feasible.

· Assist sales team with budgetary pricing estimates for equipment, engineering/programming, and associated estimated lead times.

· Define control system architecture and select appropriate control panel BOM and associated field devices to meet application requirements.

· Create control panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or similar in accordance with NEC and UL 508A standards.

· Assemble project specific submittal documentation package including description of operation, design drawings and component datasheets for review by consulting engineers.

· Coordinate with third-party control panel builders and other component vendors and conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) prior to taking delivery of completed assembly.

· Program and configure PLCs, design and develop HMI/SCADA applications, set VFD parameters/timers/DIP switches, etc. prior to equipment shipment from factory.

· Assist installing contractors with any follow-up questions during the installation process via phone or Teams.

· Provide on-site field commissioning and startup support at customer facilities, including municipal wastewater treatment plants and other industrial facilities.

· Conduct Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), documenting results and coordinating resolution of open punch-list items prior to project closeout.

· Troubleshoot control system issues, both remotely and on-site, diagnosing PLC faults, drive alarms, network failures, and field device anomalies to minimize customer downtime.

Requirements:
Completed High School Diploma (minimum), Drafting Certificate / Courses (helpful), or Completed Community College (helpful).

· Proficient user of AutoCAD.

· Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word | Excel | Publisher | Access).

· Accepts and offers constructive criticism accordingly for professional improvements.

· Professional and effective communication skills through verbal, visual, and written form.

· Operate with integrity with colleagues and clients by face-to-face design meetings, phone conversation and email.

· Complete tasks / projects on time in a very accurate manner; often times in tight and critical deadlines.

· Organized individual being able to multitask; ability to switch between projects quickly when commanded.

· Physical activity including, but not limited to, walking, bending, stooping, or climbing is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in an industrial controls role.

· Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and safety standards including NEC and UL 508A.

· Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent platform for electrical schematic and control panel layout creation.

· 2+ years of hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

· Proficiency with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation and Siemens development software suites.

· Working knowledge of industrial networking protocols, including EtherNet/IP and Profinet.

· Prior experience in the water/wastewater treatment or municipal infrastructure industries preferred.

· Ability and willingness to travel for field commissioning and startup support; estimated travel is 20–30% domestic.

 

Compensation:
Salary wage depending on experience and knowledge (range of $75,000 - $100,000 yearly salary), along with available 401K / profit sharing, health insurance, paid vacation.
