PHYSICIAN (FAMILY MEDICINE) - Kirtland AFB, NM

About the Position : This position is located at the 377th Medical Group, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the full scope of primary and preventive health care services to male and female patients of all ages in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).

1. Serve as the Primary Care Optimization (PCO) team leader providing comprehensive outpatient care to beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions. Manage diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, arthritis, cancer, injuries, psychiatric disorders; conduct pre‑ and post‑deployment health assessments and preventive health assessments (PHA). Address personnel reliability and clearance evaluations, and provide medical evaluations for active duty, reserve, DoD civilian, and family members. Perform ambulatory surgical procedures and order diagnostic testing, ensuring compliance with accredited guidelines.
2. Provide clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team, facilitating and managing full spectrum of professional and patient care activities, evaluating resource utilization, disease management, and preventive health.
3. Act as a member of the professional medical staff, follow and modify hospital plans and policies to meet accrediting agencies’ requirements, participate in continuing education, peer review, preceptor duties, committee work, and provide guidance on military policies.
4. Participate in local disaster training exercises, respond to real‑world emergencies, and coordinate with local, state, and county medical emergency personnel to deliver primary care following the Medical Contingency Response Plan.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

To qualify, applicants must meet the experience and education requirements described below. Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work. Credits for qualifying experience are accepted. Transcripts are required for education‑based qualifications.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Family Practice):

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school.
• Foreign Degree: Must be equivalent to accredited U.S. schools. Must provide evidence of equivalence, such as certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Licensure: Current, active, full, unrestricted license from a State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience post‑degree (internship or first year of residency).

Residency Training for Family Practice: Applicants must have successfully completed a required accredited residency in Family Medicine and have a minimum of 4 years of equivalent training. Experience cannot substitute for residency.
