Clinical Nurse Residency Program - Leukemia

The Clinical Nurse Resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Ideal candidate will have graduated with their BSN in the past 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed clinical rotation or a PSNE program at MD Anderson. This candidate must be available to work the Day/Evening shift (7:00am - 7:00pm) or the Evening/Night shift (7:00pm - 7:00am), Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. G16 Leukemia is a specialized inpatient unit providing comprehensive care for patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia. Hematology patients are hospitalized for supportive care during active, aggressive high-dose chemotherapy/biotherapy and cellular therapy through a wide range of morbidity related symptoms, as well as re-hospitalization for treatment side effects. Leukemia care includes diagnosis, induction, consolidation, maintenance chemotherapy and symptom management, as well as salvage therapies for relapsed disease.Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.26
MD Anderson offers our nurses: - Three 12 hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year (minimum)

PLUS - nurses will earn up to $8,320 in annual department-based differentials for all inpatient units. Clinical Nurses relocating from 100+ miles from MD Anderson will also qualify for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance!

• Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.
• Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
• Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
• Participates in data collection for current studies.
• Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
• Documents care according to established standards.
• Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
• Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
• Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing within the last 12 months would be a plus.
Experience Required: No experience required.
Experience Preferred: Completion of a clinical rotation or PSNE program at MD Anderson.
Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
