About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Telemetry skills Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse for a stepdown unit. The total number of beds in the unit is 55. The patient population primarily consists of adults, with rare pediatric cases involving patients aged 15 and older. The RN-to-patient ratio for both day and night shifts is 1:4. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with times from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Navy blue scrubs are standard for this position. Nursing Assistant support is available on the unit. A charge nurse is present for leadership. Additional support staff includes educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, and COVID. Common drips and medications include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin. Ideal candidates must hold ACLS and BLS certifications. Competency in telemetry is needed for this role. Fingers nails must adhere to a strict policy regarding artificial nails. Candidates will take an exam during orientations that requires a passing score of 90%. Unit challenges may include staffing issues. Nurses on this unit thrive when they manage the day-to-day operations effectively. Collaboration and mutual support among team members are key attributes for success. This role may include floating to medical-surgical areas as needed based on patient care demands.
