HBCU News is a culturally driven retail concept focused on education, heritage, and community, offering books, apparel, and merchandise that highlight the legacy and impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Store Manager in leading daily operations across both 1920 Merch, Next Stop DC, and HBCU retail spaces.
• Assist in recruiting, training, and scheduling retail associates.
• Help monitor daily and weekly sales goals and support strategies to improve store performance.
• Ensure excellent customer service that aligns with the mission and values of both brands.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards and assist with floor sets and displays.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, restocking, and organization.
• Ensure compliance with cash handling procedures and POS accuracy.
• Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Support communication with headquarters regarding promotions and marketing initiatives.
• Assist with creating and posting social media content when needed.

Qualifications:

• 1–2+ years of retail experience (lead or supervisory experience preferred).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to support team management and daily operations.
• Passion for culture, community, empowerment, and purpose-driven retail.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and dependable with a hands-on leadership approach.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
