Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as a Patient Transfer Assistant. This role focuses on the safe and efficient transportation of patients between clinical, ancillary, and support areas using wheelchairs, beds, or stretchers. You will assist patients who may require oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, or other special equipment during transport.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely transport patients to designated locations while adhering to established policies and federal and state regulations, including The Joint Commission standards.
• Utilize proper lifting and transferring techniques and equipment to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
• Provide comfort and support to patients and their families, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and attentiveness to schedules.
• Document all patient transports accurately in the electronic medical record system.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team leads regarding transport completion and job duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of patient transport equipment.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Some patient care experience is preferred but not required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel is beneficial.

Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements: This position requires close mental concentration and visual attention for extended periods. The role can be physically demanding, involving standing, sitting, lifting up to 35 lbs., pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, turning, twisting, reaching, and near-constant walking. The ability to transport oneself efficiently throughout the medical facility is essential.

Working Conditions: Expect frequent exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, chemicals, disinfectants, and occasional hostile individuals. Proper use of lifting equipment is mandatory to prevent injury. Minimal physical discomfort is anticipated despite these exposures.
