Metro Nashville Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and innovative Advisor, Family Engagement Strategy I to help lead the district’s vision for meaningful family-school partnerships.

This role is ideal for a strategic thinker, skilled facilitator, and relationship builder who is passionate about creating systems that empower families, strengthen educator practices, and improve student outcomes. The Advisor serves as a key thought partner to district and school leaders, leading initiatives that elevate caregiver voice, expand staff capacity, improve engagement outcomes, and ensure families are connected, informed, and empowered throughout their educational journey.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Lead District-Wide Family Engagement Strategy

• Design, implement, and continuously improve districtwide family engagement initiatives that support student success and align with organizational priorities.
• Develop frameworks, processes, and tools that strengthen partnerships between schools, families, and communities.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to district and school leaders on effective family engagement practices.

Build Capacity Across Schools

• Design and facilitate high-quality professional learning for educators, school leaders, family engagement staff, caregivers, and community partners.
• Create toolkits, resources, curricula, and learning experiences that help schools strengthen family partnerships.
• Provide coaching, consultation, and implementation support to school and district teams.

Elevate Family and Caregiver Voice

• Design and manage systems that ensure family feedback informs district decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
• Facilitate caregiver advisory groups, listening sessions, focus groups, surveys, and other engagement opportunities.
• Analyze stakeholder feedback and translate insights into actionable recommendations.

Lead Communications, Marketing, and Storytelling

• Develop and execute comprehensive communication and marketing strategies that increase awareness, participation, and engagement.
• Oversee storytelling efforts across digital and print platforms, including newsletters, publications, social media, websites, videos, and multimedia content.
• Ensure consistent branding and messaging for family engagement initiatives across the district.
• Create compelling content that celebrates success, builds trust, and strengthens community connections.

Use Data to Drive Continuous Improvement

• Develop surveys, dashboards, performance measures, and evaluation tools to assess engagement effectiveness and impact.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and executive-level recommendations that support informed decision-making.

Build Strategic Partnerships

• Cultivate strong relationships with school leaders, district departments, community organizations, vendors, and external partners.
• Identify opportunities to leverage community resources and align partnership efforts with district priorities.
• Collaborate across departments to maximize impact and ensure cohesive engagement strategies.

Strengthen Systems and Operations

• Establish scalable processes, resources, and operational systems that support consistent implementation across schools.
• Ensure effective documentation, project management, communication, and sustainability of district initiatives.
• Research emerging trends, promising practices, and innovative approaches to strengthen family engagement efforts.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Community Engagement, Human Services, Marketing, or a related field required.

Experience

• Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in family engagement, community engagement, education, communications, organizational development, training, program management, or a related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a K-12 school district, higher education, nonprofit organization, or community-focused environment.
• Experience leading strategic initiatives across multiple teams or departments.
• Experience developing professional learning and facilitating adult learning experiences.
• Experience with communications, marketing, branding, and digital engagement strategies.
• Experience utilizing data to drive decision-making and measure program effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Exceptional written, verbal, and executive-level communication abilities.
• Experience developing communication campaigns, storytelling strategies, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
• Strong analytical skills, including survey design, data interpretation, and performance measurement.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement and evaluation frameworks.
• Strategic thinking combined with strong execution and project management skills.
