As a Senior Software Security Engineer at GitLab, you will be instrumental in enhancing security across our platforms. Your role will involve engineering security improvements to the GitLab product and maintaining tools to detect and prevent abuse on our SaaS platforms. This position is ideal for candidates with a solid software engineering background, particularly in Ruby/Rails, who are eager to transition into security engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain core abuse prevention systems and develop new detection rules.
• Support and enhance our in-house abuse platform built on Ruby on Rails.
• Implement AI capabilities to improve anomaly detection and reduce operational loads.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for safety improvements.
• Create and maintain documentation for processes and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong software development skills with Ruby/Rails experience.
• Experience with distributed applications in cloud environments.
• Interest in developing security engineering skills.
• Familiarity with cloud native development, preferably AWS or GCP.
• Ability to approach security incidents with an automation-first mindset.
