Weekend Respiratory Therapist (RT)

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Looking for a full‑time, talented and motivated Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team at the Grand Pavilion for Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rockville Center. Candidate must hold an active license in the state of practice and be able to evaluate and treat patients independently without direct supervision. The role focuses on caring for the geriatric population and improving residents’ respiratory function. Shift Details 8 hours per shift, up to 8 hours depending on caseload Working Saturdays and Sundays Responsibilities Complete assessments and implement respiratory techniques to maintain and progress rehab patients with respiratory and non‑respiratory illnesses. Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, and operate, check, and assemble respiratory equipment. Provide bedside treatments and perform tracheotomy care and suctioning. Lead or assist in in‑services for nursing staff quarterly. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and maintain accurate charge capture. Attend applicable interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings. Track, audit, and manage caseload; perform related duties as required. Oxygen therapy, oxygen weaning, respiratory muscle training, Omniflow, aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, incentive spirometry, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, oronasal/pharyngeal suctioning, tracheobronchial suctioning and tracheostomy care, airway management/assessment, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per departmental policy. Qualifications / Requirements Graduate of COARC accredited associate or bachelor respiratory program; licensed as RRT or CRT. Licensed in the state of practice; BLS certification. Experience in a long‑term care or rehabilitation setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of respiratory disease, airway management, and clinical protocols. Proficient in using respiratory therapy equipment and electronic health record documentation. Ability to work independently and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
