Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Emergency Department Staff NurseWe are searching for an Emergency Department Staff Nurse—someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you'll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. We need someone who can collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.Texas Children's Emergency Center, located in the Texas Medical Center at 6621 Fannin St., provides a complete range of services to the greater Houston community, treating children with both medical and surgical emergencies.Texas Children's Emergency Center, the largest pediatric emergency center in South Central Texas, has 53 beds, including shock trauma resuscitation beds, dedicated sexual assault examination room, and specialized isolation room. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Think you've got what it takes?Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in nursing Or Associates Degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreementOr Technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreementOr Must be currently enrolled in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN.Verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement is required.Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas is requiredCurrent BLS from the American Heart Association is required(1) year of professional nursing experience1 year of Pediatric, Emergency, or Critical Care experience highly preferredResponsibilities:Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental (age-appropriate), cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic mannerCollects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient careIdentifies patient's needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain managementRe-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes in the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical recordDiscusses the patient's plan of care with family and/or significant individuals and documents in the medical record as appropriateEvaluates and documents patient's response to the care provided and recognizes the patient's progress toward meeting the desired outcomes and discusses with the patient/familyFormulates, implements, and documents individualized teaching plan based on patient/family assessmentServes as a patient/family advocate while caring for patients and collaborating with other health care team membersAdministers and documents medications and treatments in a timely mannerDemonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performancesTo join our community of 15,000+ dedicated team members, visit texaschildrenspeople.org for career opportunities.Texas Children's is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
