Contract | Night Shift | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotated among staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a combined Orthopedic and Inpatient Rehabilitation unit, with the ability to be assigned to IRF patients based on census needs
• Manage a patient assignment of up to 1:4 (Med-Surg) or 1:6 (IRF), with ratios reviewed twice daily based on acuity
• Perform telemetry monitoring responsibilities including reviewing rhythm strips once per shift and documenting findings; monitor techs provide off-site support and notify nursing of rhythm variations
• Perform skilled nursing tasks including IV management, foley catheter care, and dressing changes
• Collaborate with PCTs who assist with ADLs and vital signs on night shift; provide primary care coverage when needed due to staffing circumstances
• Float to other Med-Surg units within the facility with similar staffing ratios when census requires

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Texas
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency with IVs, foley catheters, and dressing changes
• Ability to read basic cardiac rhythms (basic rhythm course completion expected prior to or upon onboarding)
• Willingness to float to other Med-Surg units within the facility as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior orthopedic nursing experience strongly preferred
• Experience caring for patients with diagnoses such as total joint replacements (knee, hip, shoulder), CVA, encephalopathy, or lumbar fusion
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a Med-Surg or Inpatient Rehab setting
