Our air treatment systems help control all internal conditions, including temperature, relative humidity, cleanliness, and ventilation. Summary The Pipefitter position is a critical role for the company. This individual will follow all safety rules and regulations and work as part of a team daily. The Pipefitter position will work under the guidance of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager depending on location of the work assignment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints. Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools. Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems. Turn valves to shut off water or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches. Remove and replace worn components. Prepare cost estimates for clients. Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness. Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors. Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action. Required Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education. Ability to pass background check and drug screen. Valid driver's license and insurable driving record. OSHA 10 Certification desired. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Preferred Education and/or Experience Knowledge of the construction industry and documentation. Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines. Operate a forklift and/or scissor lift. Computer Skills Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel). Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other mechanical, technical, or construction programs. Familiarity with project management/document control software. Familiarity with construction/financial software packages. Required Attributes Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed. While visiting field locations, the employee may be required to work outdoors, be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical and electrical parts; high precarious places; dust, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight; cold and heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
