QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED, or vocational training Ability to meet all physical requirements of assignedduties Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assignedresponsibilities Such alternatives to the above qualifications as theboard of education may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL AND CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean,and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Keep floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Dust and clean furniture and fixtures on a daily schedule. Keep wastebaskets empty and clean. Clean chalkboards on a scheduled basis. Report to the custodial supervisor and building principal any acts of vandalism, anyevidence of deliberate or excessive littering, and any behavior by students that is demeaning tothe custodian. Clean and sanitize all restrooms, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains on a daily basis. Keep grounds free of rubbish. Promptly report needed major repairs. Operate various floor care equipment, high and low speed buffers, carpet shampoo machines,and vacuum cleaners. Safely operate lawn equipment. Remove snow from entrances and sidewalks. Replace light tubes and bulbs in fixtures. Operate laundry washer and dryer*. Perform laundry duties maintaining sports uniforms, sports towels, kitchen towels, shop rags,custodian rags, and mop heads*. Operate swimming pool equipment and maintain related records*. Set up equipment for activities including sports, academics, social meetings, and programsboth school and non-school related. Assume responsibility for building security at all times. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the custodial supervisor or buildingadministrator. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Wage and length of employment to be establishedby the board of education. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance withprovisions of the board's policy on evaluation of supportservices personnel.
