Health and Safety Services Technician

Job Overview City/State: Nyack, New York Department: West Nyack Ambulatory Surgery Center_2 Work Shift: Day Work Days: MON-FRI Scheduled Hours: 8 AM-4:30 PM (8 hours daily, 40 hours weekly) Hourly Rate/Range: $25.00+ Job Summary The Health & Safety Services Technician assists the medical team in the Center through timely and efficient turnover of the ORs, patient positioning, preparation of supplies, restocking, and equipment maintenance. Operates under the supervision of the circulating nurse with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Assist the surgical team with positioning and transportation of patients. Maintain and replenish supplies, including clean linen, paper products, hand soap, sanitizers, and sharps. Perform daily clinical and ancillary area cleaning, including OR turnover, terminal cleaning, and pre‑operative and PACU area cleaning. Identify and report equipment needing repair, following up with appropriate personnel. Keep housekeeping closets, carts and equipment clean and organized. Conduct inventory of linens and communicate needs with leadership. Collect, transport and dispose of regular waste, recycling, and regulated medical waste in compliance with biohazard policies. Use cleaning chemicals safely, label bottles, monitor expiration dates, and maintain daily supply records. Assist in material acquisition, specimen transport, and secure medication storage when authorized. Communicate daily with manager to resolve concerns and meet customer‑service standards. Report any needed repairs for equipment, furniture or facilities. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Prior work experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center preferred. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills. Ability to lift and transport patients, instrument trays, and equipment up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity to handle equipment and instrumentation. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations and diverse surgical environments.
