$116,563.20 - $209,788.80

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

This position is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Clinical
Laboratory. Oversees all Laboratory services, operations, testing, and reporting.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Perform strategic planning for the laboratory; identify and develop departmental goals and objectives.
2. Provides effective leadership in delegation, organization, and coordination in managing the daily operations of the laboratory.
3. Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.
4. Ensures laboratory compliance with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.
5. Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with all levels of hospital management, employees, and physicians to effectively contribute to the group’s achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science field.
2. Registered MT (ASCP) or equivalent.

Preferred:
1. Master’s degree.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum 7 years laboratory experience with 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
2. Must possess the interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) needed to provide effective participative leadership and for successful communication with all levels of staff.
3. Strong management skills.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

• Demonstrates the ability to gain alignment, build trust, and drive adoption of new processes and expectations.

13. Performance Management

• Establishes clear performance expectations and holds leaders and staff accountable for achieving quality, service, productivity, and behavioral standards.
• Conducts meaningful performance evaluations and develops corrective action plans when performance does not meet expectations.

14. Physician and Customer Relationship Management

• Maintains strong working relationships with physicians, nursing leaders, hospital operations, and other stakeholders to ensure exceptional laboratory service and responsiveness.

• • Demonstrated success leading large, diverse laboratory teams in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Experience with workforce stabilization, staff retention strategies, and culture transformation initiatives.
  • Strong experience managing employee performance, coaching leaders, resolving conflict, and fostering workforce engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve employee morale, and build a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Experience working in unionized environments preferred.
  • Experience leading CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and state regulatory inspections with successful outcomes.
  • Experience managing laboratory outreach programs, reference laboratory relationships, and laboratory growth initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing laboratory information systems (LIS) and laboratory technology implementations.
