Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Specialist role based in the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. The professional in this role will conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations, interpret audiological test results, and recommend appropriate hearing solutions tailored to individual needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include fitting, programming, and verifying hearing aids, providing follow-up care, and educating patients and families on hearing aid use, maintenance, and communication strategies. The role also supports the Foundation’s programs by assessing eligibility for hearing aid assistance, participating in hearing aid recycling processes, and documenting clinical services in accordance with professional and organizational standards. Collaboration with administrative and program staff to coordinate patient care and contribute to outreach or educational activities is expected. Qualifications Clinical audiology skills, including comprehensive hearing assessments, test interpretation, and hearing aid fitting and verification. Patient-centered communication skills, with the ability to counsel individuals and families on hearing loss, rehabilitation options, and realistic expectations. Technical proficiency in working with hearing aids and related assistive devices, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Strong documentation and organizational skills to maintain accurate records, manage schedules, and support program reporting requirements. Commitment to serving financially challenged and underserved populations, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs. Ability to work collaboratively within a small, mission-driven team and to adapt to evolving program needs. License or certification as an Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Specialist in accordance with Tennessee state requirements.
