Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops, implements, and evaluates an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by assisting them through the healthcare encounter without complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions based on each patient's condition and the competencies of the healthcare personnel. This role includes nursing responsibilities in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24X7 staffing. The RN conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards. The RN identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs, develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care. The RN modifies the plan to meet clinical outcomes. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The RN supports evidence-based practice changes through research utilization. The RN creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families. The RN develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries. The RN manages emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing. The RN recognizes and incorporates patients' unique differences into an individualized plan of care. The RN preserves and protects patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights. The RN identifies and helps resolve ethical and clinical concerns. The RN facilitates learning for patients and families, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team. The RN works collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement integrated plans of care. The RN uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving. The RN recognizes limited resources and considers factors related to safety and efficiency in delivering patient care. The RN participates in shared governance and decision-making processes to improve nursing practice. The RN participates in the staffing process from education and planning to evaluation.
