Emergency Department Registered NurseCommonSpirit Memorial Hospital North Georgia is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse. This is a fast-paced environment with a high acuity patient population. The ideal candidate should be self-sufficient and comfortable working with less resources than large teaching or trauma facilities. Must be adept with EPIC and ideally have experience in smaller, fast-paced facilities.Unit Details:- Trauma Level: Not designated- STEMI and Stroke Receiving: Yes, but transferred out for intervention- Number of Beds/Trauma Bays: 24 beds, including 4 behavioral health rooms and 2 critical care rooms- Fast Track: Yes, 9 chair vertical flow area- Separate Triage Area: Yes, and yes for travelers- Separate Holding Area: No- Separate Psych/Seclusion Rooms: Yes, 4 behavioral health safe rooms- Security in-house 24/7: Yes, housed in the ER- Average Patients Treated in ER/Day: 70-80- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 4:1- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: CP, Abdominal pain, SOB, uncontrolled DM, all age groups primarily 20-90 yrs old- Experience or 'Must have' Skills: Ability to function in a fast-paced department with less resources than large teaching or trauma facilities. Must be adept with EPIC.- Common Drips: Levo, Epi, Fentanyl, Prop- ED Physician &/or Mid-Levels Staffed: 1 ED physician at all times, peak hours have additional 2-3 midlevels- Charge Nurse on Each Shift: Yes, 24/7, occasionally takes patients mainly the BH patients- Nurse Aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters on Each Shift: Yes, 1 PCT per shift. They transport patients, can perform phlebotomy, and transport patients- RT in the ER: Yes, does ABGs, breathing Tx, & EKGs- RT Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPap, High Flow- Tele/Monitor Techs in the ER: No- Client X-Ray or CT in the ER: Yes, rad tech will come get patient unless stroke alert, or critical care requiring 1:1 RN- Phlebotomy: RNs draw- Shifts & Scheduling: Local staff self schedule, no guarantee of scheduling for travelers but try to accommodate as much as possible- Weekend Requirements: Weekends are a possibility depending on shift, for 7a and 7p, significant weekend option coverage so minimal requirements at this time- Holiday Requirements: Travelers are expected to help cover holidays unless negotiated in contract- Call or Standby Requirement: No- Floating Requirements: Yes, between the 3 memorial campuses (two in TN so compact license is required). All within 20-25 of each other- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue, plain or memorial branded sweatshirts are allowed. No hoodies- Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 1st week they will receive two 8 hour hospital orientation shifts at the main campus, and two 12 hour clinical in unit orientation shifts with a preceptorAdditional Notes: This is not an assignment for a new ED nurse. We rarely board, but do transfer a large number of patients due to criticality.
