Title: Fitter Location: Lancaster, California Reports to: Production Manager, Shop Foreman Employment Status: Full time Salary: Negotiable Job Summary Fitters at McWhirter Steel are responsible for providing “layout” on all of McWhirter Steel’s fabrications. They are also responsible for building miscellaneous fabrications from raw material till complete. Major Duties Fabricate miscellaneous steel fabrications like trash gates, roof access platforms, handrail etc. Layout structural fabrications Operate an overhead crane Operate a torch Perform stick welding Perform wire welding Read fabrication drawings Qualifications Complete at least 3 months of McWhirter Steel’s Fitter’s apprenticeship or have at least 4 years of structural steel fitting experience. Have welding experience. Have in-depth knowledge of reading and interpreting fabrication drawings. Have in-depth knowledge of reading and interpreting erection drawings. Have experience fabricating miscellaneous steel such as handrail, roof access platforms, etc. Should be AWS certified.
