Role Description The Section Chief is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in the Greater Chicago Area. This position is responsible for overseeing the academic and/or clinical operations of an assigned section, including curriculum implementation, faculty coordination, and learner support. The Section Chief leads day-to-day activities such as scheduling, resource planning, and ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and institutional policies. The role involves collaborating with other department leaders, monitoring quality and outcomes, and recommending improvements to teaching, assessment, and service delivery. The Section Chief also participates in hiring and mentoring faculty, supports scholarly and professional development activities, and represents the section in internal and external meetings. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership and management experience in academic, clinical, or healthcare settings, with the ability to supervise teams and coordinate complex operations. Strong skills in planning, organization, and problem-solving, including experience with scheduling, resource allocation, and process improvement. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a track record of working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and supporting diverse learners and colleagues. Knowledge of medical education standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance processes, particularly within osteopathic or allopathic training environments. Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., DO, MD, or other appropriate graduate degree) and eligibility for any required professional licensure or certification, as applicable. Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and educational program evaluation is highly beneficial. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and learner-centered education in both academic and clinical settings.
