Landscape & Shop Assistant (Seasonal): Freeport, Illinois

Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is looking for a reliable, hands-on individual to join their team as a Landscape & Shop Assistant to work on 1st shift in a seasonal role. This position is approximately 16 weeks, with the possibility of extending longer, and is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, light shop projects, and a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities of the Landscape & Shop Assistant:

• Assist with general landscaping and grounds maintenance.
• Mow lawns, trim edges, and perform basic yard upkeep.
• Plant, water, and maintain flowers, grass, and other greenery.
• Remove weeds, leaves, debris, and trash from outdoor areas.
• Support projects in the shop using basic hand tools.
• Help with outdoor cleanup such as sweeping sidewalks and common areas.
• Perform seasonal tasks including leaf removal or light snow/ice clearing as needed.
• Operate basic landscaping tools and equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Landscape & Shop Assistant Requirements and Qualifications:

• Previous shop, maintenance, or hands-on experience preferred.
• Woodworking experience is a plus.
• Ability to use basic hand tools safely.
• Ability to perform light to moderate physical work outdoors.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance and a positive, helpful attitude.

Pay for Landscape & Shop Assistant: $15.00–$16.50/hour. Type: Seasonal, 1st Shift. Schedule: Approximately 7:30am – 12:30pm. Monday – Thursday (flexible schedule), about 4 days per week depending on weather and workload.
