The Assistant Principal will support the school in driving academic and SEL outcomes for students as a key member of the school’s leadership team. Assistant Principals lead instruction, school culture and develop leadership in the school’s emerging leaders. Reports to: Principal Supervises : Teachers, Instructional Paraprofessionals, and other school staff assigned by Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Model and support implementation of the school's vision and goals Supports development of Principal’s school-wide vision and takes an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school; owns the implementation of select school priorities in support of the school-wide vision With guidance from the Principal, leads and plans specific goals for the grades/departments that he/she coaches and ensures alignment with school-wide goals Manages diverse opinions, ideologies, and expertise to achieve school vision and objectives Provides input into the school-based strategic planning and identifies what the school’s strategic plan means for his/her own leadership and people that he/she manages Supports the principal in engaging, parents, community regularly to ensure they are invested in the school direction and informed of progress; ensures they are appropriately involved in school decision making Supports the monitoring of the STEAM program per the advisement of the Director of STEAM Implementation, the GaDOE STEAM continuum expectations with school leadership team Instructional Leadership Provides high-quality, helpful instructional coaching with frequent and scheduled teacher caseload observations, actionable and bite‑sized feedback, and accountability for adjustment in practice Develops a strong understanding of academic standards for all subjects/grades that they lead Studies curriculum and assessment content and further develops understanding of how assessments map to content mastery, and what is required of students and teachers to accomplish mastery on the assessments Supports and enforces the Network guidelines for using assessment for student mastery and growth towards instruction and college readiness. and insists that assessments are used to inform teacher instructions. Develops own and teachers’ knowledge of best practices in instructional methods and teaches teachers how to match particular strategies to gaps in student mastery Supports how data aligns to end‑of‑year goals (what is being assessed and how it maps to standards); break‑out data to analyze how different student groups are performing; determine what data is saying about areas of student mastery and growth; and identify specific instructional actions and adjustments to fill students’ knowledge and skill gaps and a timeline to do so Manages others who lead department/content/grade‑level meetings that focus on planning for and norming on instruction and culture, practicing instructional strategies, and progress monitoring the department/content/grade level Recommends to the Principal what school‑wide professional development will be the highest leverage in improving student results; lead engaging, actionable, adult‑learning workshops; and hold staff accountable for implementation of the workshop practices Establishes and creates accountability for school‑wide expectations Ensures excellent teaching via co‑observations, norming, and other professional development Assists the principal in communicating academic progress to families and support school community training on instructional expectations Data , Planning and Assessment Leads team in analyzing holistic data, instructional and cultural strategies to make appropriate decisions to improve instruction, increase student achievement, increase socio‑emotional wellness, and overall school effectiveness Uses student achievement data to determine school effectiveness and directs school staff to actively analyze data for improving results Lead administration of routine network and state assessments including but not limited to MAP, IReady diagnostic, benchmark testing and Georgia Milestones Develop and implement testing expectations for teachers and staff to adhere to meet state compliance standards Aligns instruction with compliance requirements and managing assessments Trains staff on instructional and culture technology resources and data systems (i.e. Write Score, MAP, Illuminate, Whetstone, Kickbboard, APS Graphs) Manages school level instructional data Leads weekly data meetings School Climate Cultivates a positive learning environment by leading with love, joy, and equity through managing smooth daily operations like scheduling, attendance, incidents, and restorative practices Consistently models and collaboratively promotes high expectations, mutual respect, concern, and empathy for students, staff, parents, and community Utilizes shared decision‑making to build relationships with all stakeholders and maintains positive school morale Maintains collegial environment and supports staff through the stages of the change process Develops, implements, and monitors best practices in school‑wide culture rooted in socio‑emotional wellness and restorative practice Model strong staff and student culture and manage school‑wide social emotional development and behavior management systems Supports teachers in understanding process and roles in student support and intervention and develops systems and structures to ensure that limited time is spent on reactive student discipline Manages parts of the daily school operations (e.g. arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, school trips) Acts as the first Leadership Team contact on student intervention and parent engagement hierarchy; determines next steps for issues that rise above the teacher/grade level/department chair Manages school‑wide events, celebrations, and rituals that reinforce school culture with school leadership team On a rotating basis, shares supervision of public/community events with other APs and Principal Organizational Leadership Supports the principals in executing the school’s vision for operations, staffing, schedule, testing and finance according to the school’s goals and priorities Supports the principal in engaging, parents, community regularly to ensure they are invested in the school direction and informed of progress; ensures they are appropriately involved in school decision making Prioritizes safety students and staff by creating and implementing routines and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, and positive environment Ensures the efficiency of school operations and routine facility maintenance Manages and allocates resources responsibly by adhering to expense priorities Shares supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal Supervises teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned Models and supports implementation of all staff code of conduct including: attendance, dress code, handbook and playbook policy and procedures Supports the development and execution of a data‑driven and performance‑based teacher and staff hiring process Supports new teacher onboarding processes Ensures high retention rates and engagement of teachers and staff Supports the Principal in identifying and developing teacher leaders (Department Heads, Grade Level Chairs, etc.) through goal setting, coaching and providing feedback Teacher/Staff Evaluation Focuses on growth and accountability Conducts observations, provides feedback, and action steps regularly Documents evidence of staff performance properly Retains high‑quality staff and properly supports or exits low‑performers Implements and monitors progress of staff professional improvement plans Professionalism & Communication Professionalism Serves as a role model for ethical behavior Collaborates and networks both inside and outside of the organization in effort to provide support and for professional growth Carries out duties with integrity and competence Cultivates own growth, sustainability and success through active participation in district‑wide professional development and by seeking out high‑impact growth opportunities Required to have prompt, regular attendance in‑person and be available to work on‑site, in‑person during regular business hours and as needed Ensures new users are setup and trained on academic platforms (Whetstone, MAP, iReady, etc) Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative Builds relationships using asset orientation (focuses on leveraging people’s strengths) and collaborates with peers to solve problems Models resilience and the ability to adapt to change for all school stakeholders Communication Communicates with all stakeholders using a variety of mediums and strategies Engages community partners in ways that are mutually beneficial Communicates important or sensitive information to teachers, colleagues, and/or parents clearly, directly, and concisely Responds to deadlines and requests Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (2.5+ GPA) ; Master’s degree in education or related field preferred Ability to pass an Atlanta Public Schools background check and obtain a GaPSC‑issued clearance certificate Have deep knowledge of standards/Common Core shifts and how they relate to curriculum and assessments Evidence of academic student outcomes Experience managing a team of educators

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

Active Level 4 teacher certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission or have reciprocity eligibility Certification in Educational Leadership by GaPSC preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years as a lead teacher required Experience raising academic achievement in urban/high needs schools preferred

Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ salary schedule for Assistant Principals (years of experience and certification level calculated) Teacher Retirement System (TRS) pension, 403b plan, vacation, and paid time off, health, vision, and dental insurance, employer‑paid life insurance, and short and long‑term disability benefits.
