Position Overview: The Estimator position is responsible for using a combination of past experiences and project specifications to accurately estimate the amount of materials, equipment, and/or man hours that must be utilized to complete a given project. Based upon these calculations, they create a project budget that is then presented to Management. All necessary details must meet not only legal, but also company policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities: Perform concrete, aggregate and related material takeoffs (mix specifications and rough quantities) from plans and specifications at customers' locations or from on-line internet services. Attend pre-bid meetings to take notes and relay information to appropriate departments and personnel. Identify concrete, aggregates, and related materials within the specifications of identified projects. Address customer inquiries or concerns related to products and services. May be responsible for contacting the customer directly for clarification on quotes, resolving issues, change orders or other topics. Possess or develop the knowledge of basic concrete and aggregate technologies. Prepare verbal and/or written quotations of concrete and related materials for bidding purposes, commercial projects, annual customer requirements, state, county and municipal requirements. Input quotes and other information into computer systems based on information gathered by estimators and the sales team. Track the projects quoted, help maintain schedules and follow-up on the project or sale of materials. Prepare project price information for the sale of the products quoted and/or required. Research various construction projects in our markets by utilizing the internet, professional organizations, periodicals and other forums to generate new leads. Assist and provide Technical Services Manager with required information for the proper preparation of concrete and material certifications for specific projects. Any other duties as assigned.

ACI Grade 1 Concrete Field-Testing Technician Certification preferred (or the ability to obtain). Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred. Work Requirements Must be 18 years in age or older. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. On-time and consistent attendance is required. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends if necessary. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (less than 10% of the time). Knowledge/Skill Requirements Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively. Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, assisting co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public. Must display a willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities. Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
