Senior Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

M-F: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM 

Starting rate: $29.95 To $39.31 Hourly

Location: Oak Brook, IL
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Blistex is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to support our manufacturing facility and campus infrastructure. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong experience maintaining HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, and building support equipment in a regulated manufacturing environment such as food, consumer packaged goods (CPG), pharmaceutical, cosmetics/personal care, or ingredient manufacturing .

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys troubleshooting facility systems, performing preventive maintenance, and helping ensure a safe, reliable, and well-maintained workplace.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on:
  • Rooftop HVAC units
  • Air handling equipment
  • Low-pressure boiler systems
  • Air compressors and compressed air systems
  • Building automation and support equipment
• Conduct daily inspections and equipment checks to ensure reliable operation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
• Monitor facility infrastructure and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Replace light fixtures, ceiling tiles, filters, piping, valves, and other building components.
• Complete routine building repairs and maintenance projects.
• Coordinate contractor work and oversee service vendors as needed.
• Assist with facility moves, including moving furniture, equipment, and materials.
• Support snow removal and seasonal grounds maintenance activities.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when required.

• Execute scheduled PMs on facility equipment.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Support compliance with safety, GMP, and facility standards.

• 4+ years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience maintaining and troubleshooting:
  • HVAC systems
  • Air compressors
  • Boiler systems
  • Mechanical building infrastructure
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and standard maintenance equipment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.

• Experience in a food, pharmaceutical, personal care, CPG, chemical, or ingredient manufacturing facility.
• EPA Certification for refrigerant handling.
• Experience with forklift operation.
• Welding, pipefitting, or electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Experience managing contractors and outside vendors.

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to move furniture, equipment, and materials throughout the facility.
• Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors during seasonal weather conditions, including snow removal activities.
