Environmental Systems Maintenance Supervisor I - NE

Position Overview Maintenance Supervisors at PBOT oversee field crews performing construction and asset‑management activities. This role is a supervisor in the Environmental Systems Division as the Sewer Repair Supervisor. Work Schedule Full time. Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May also have alternate schedule and rotational weekly on‑call assignments. Responsibilities Supervise and evaluate field crews, ensuring safe, high‑quality work. Plan, coordinate, and communicate work with stakeholders, partner bureaus, utilities, the public, and others. Manage resources—labor, materials, equipment, and schedules—to meet program targets. Use computer‑based maps and software tools to plan work, review assets, document, and support operational decisions. Lead emergency response efforts during severe weather events and other urgent situations. Support continuous improvement in field and office operations, including adopting paperless systems. Provide subject‑matter expertise and participate in meetings to plan projects. Conduct field visits to monitor safety, work quality, and crew performance. Complete administrative responsibilities, including payroll, performance management, training, and staff development. Engage with staff daily to keep teams informed, supported, and aligned. Qualifications Ability to lead teams in construction, maintenance, repair, or operation of municipal public works utilities. Knowledge and experience with safety practices and equipment for utility work such as lineal pipeline repairs, catch basins, trench excavation, shoring safety, and confined space entry. Experienced in supervisory techniques: fostering performance, coaching, and discipline. Strong business communication skills; ability to prepare clear written materials and use office software. Planning, organizing, and allocating short‑ and long‑term construction work for maintenance crews. Collaboration with multiple stakeholders—including homeowners, contractors, outside agencies, and internal partners. Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record at time of hire. Passing pre‑employment drug test at time of hire. Preferred Experience Experience planning and organizing sewer repair projects, including maintenance, liner, and storm conveyance systems. Experience using Asset Management software such as INFOR, MAXIMO, and GIS mapping systems.
